Shaquille O’Neal is stepping into the world of education sector startups. The Big Man has made an investment of $29 million in Campus, a startup founded by 29-year-old Tade Oyerinde. For this new venture, Shaq is looking for the same spirit as his friend and ex-teammate, the late, great Kobe Bryant. The 4x NBA champion believes that if he gets the same help that he did from Kobe during their time with the Los Angeles Lakers, this project will be a massive success.
The intention behind Campus is very genuine as it aims to benefit the community college education. Their goal is to address the critical issue of student debt that has been crippling the education landscape of the country for years now. With Campus, the brand aims to provide a two-year college degree with tuition at an extremely affordable price of just $7,200 per year. But for them to be able to achieve their goals, Shaq needs the Kobe-like assist from his 29-year-old business partner Oyerinde. The Big Man said, “He’s gonna be Kobe and I’m gonna be Shaq, and we are going to knock this thing out of the park.”
Shaq predicts that with such a pure motive and a dedicated team working toward the same goal, they will be extremely effective in disrupting the education sector.

Shaquille O’Neal’s new investment is inspired by Jeff Bezos
Shaq has proven himself to be clinical in his business endeavors over the years. After investing in countless ventures and bringing many ideas to life, he has tasted success in almost everything he has been involved with. But this level of genius is also hard-earned for Shaq as he pays close attention to other moguls in this field and learns from what they have to share. For this particular venture, Shaq took inspiration from the executive chairman of Amazon, Jeff Bezos. The 60-year-old has been his source of inspiration in the past as well.
Shaq said, “I heard Jeff Bezos say, if you invest in things that’s going to change people’s lives, you’ll always get a great return on your investment. But this particular investment is not about great return because I feel that everyone should have access to world-class education.” The Big Man said that this venture is not about personal gain, and he wishes to reach out and help as many students as possible by giving them quality education.
