The Grammys, as always, showcased some of the best music artists in the field with another stunning award ceremony a few weeks back. However, the internet has still not forgotten an ugly part of it, where the LA police department arrested a famous Atlanta rapper in the middle of the event. Michael Render, aka Killer Mike, was detained right after he won three Grammys, which raised questions about the LAPD’s ethics on several social media platforms. Well, Shaquille O’Neal, Jamal Crawford, and another famous rapper had a few things to add as well. But notably, it looks like the Los Angeles Lakers champion played a crucial part in his release.
Shaq brought in 43-year-old rap icon T.I., along with Crawford for a new episode of his ‘Big Podcast’, where they spoke about Killer Mike’s viral arrest. Crawford triggered the conversation about the Atlanta rapper and T.I. eventually got into the ugly part of it. He shared, “I was elated until the moment was ruined by them[LAPD}, disrespecting him and arresting him for nothing”. While T.I. was still in denial, Shaq chimed in, “He got out right away though, ’cause I called him 30 times”.
Mike was released just a few hours after he was arrested for an altercation he had with a security guard before the Grammys. The 48-year-old was sustained under a charge of “misdemeanor battery”, but it looks like a few calls from the Big Diesel were enough to get him out of jail. Well, Shaq is not the one to forget his rap friends.

The Atlanta rapper is not just loved by Shaq, but also by the entire TNT crew, who gave him an unexpected shout-out a few days back.
Killer Mike thanks ‘Inside the NBA’ for Grammy appreciation
Rockets legend Kenny Smith wanted to celebrate Mike’s Grammy win on ‘Inside the NBA’. The TNT host started, “Shoutout to Killer Mike winnin’ a Grammy. Atlanta’s own. I’m not gonna lie, I had not listened to that album, cuz when I heard Killer Mike made an album, I’m like Killer Mike is an activist. And when he won, I listened. It is the best album I heard in the last three years...Congratulations!” That’s a heavy praise from the 2-time champion.
