Shaquille O’Neal has done it all. From being one of the biggest stars in NBA history to making hundreds of millions of dollars off the court with his businesses, the Los Angeles Lakers legend has been a focused man. However, this did not come without any cost, as Shaq recently expressed that he missed out on family time while chasing his goal of making everyone’s lives better.

Shaquille O’Neal has 6 children. Although most of them are adults now, Shaq revealed during the recent episode of the DEAR FATHERS podcast that his children were very understanding of their father missing out on family time from a young age.

“It’s our job from 0 to 18 to lead them and show them the correct path. Now that they are old, they really understand. They were so understanding that when it came to game day, 12 to 3, play the quiet game… Listen, they understand. I’ve definitely missed a lot of time and broke a lot of hearts, but they were really understanding, and when they get older, they will understand more,” said the 4x champion.

Shaq knows that he missed a lot of time with his family. However, he had a lot of obligations to take care of. So he believes that as his kids grow older, they will fully realize why their dad had to be away so much, even though they were already aware of Shaq’s position from the get-go.

But no matter what, Shaq also has the duty of being a father to his kids. The big man often found time out of his schedule to make time for his kids and be the best parent for them.

Despite all of them being in different parts of the country, the family often spends holidays and small vacations together. Although he missed a lot of time when they were young, Shaq is now going out of his way to make time for them. Along with this, Shaq has helped his children get to where they belong.

Shaq has helped his children find and follow their passion while always supporting and cheering for them in any way he could. His daughter, Tahhirah O’Neal, worked as a social media assistant at Shaq’s company before finding her place in PepsiCo. Shaq’s son, Myles O’Neal, plays music alongside Shaq at concerts. His other kids are all in school and college, chasing their basketball dreams while also getting their degrees.
