The 2023 NBA season concluded over two months ago. Most teams are either trading off their players or retaining them by using a Supermax contract. A Supermax agreement allows players to occupy over 35% of the cap, even if they don?t have more than 10 years of experience with the NBA. They do, however, have to meet certain criteria.

With Boston Celtics guard/forward Jaylen Brown securing the biggest contract in NBA history, predictions are running rampant over who will be receiving the next big ticket. SBE Hoops, an Instagram handle, recently shared a post. It provided details of five NBA players who are set to obtain a supermax extension in the next few days.? Stating their names and their current teams, the post also showed the potential amount that the players could receive.
The player topping the list is Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic.

According to the post, Nikola Jokic can receive as much as $404 million for a five-year extension, despite having played only 8 seasons with the NBA. If the prediction turns out to be true, then The Joker could earn $100 million more than what Jaylen Brown received for his five-year extension.

The prophecy caught the eyes of Shaquille O?Neal.
He posted it on his Instagram story and promoted it amongst his 31.1 Million followers. While he was only able to earn $292 million from his various contracts over 19 seasons, Shaq understands the changing climate and knows that teams need to fork up in order to retain some remarkable talent.

Since starting his career with the Nuggets in 2015, Jokic has created a reputation for being a formidable player.

In the latest season, the 5x NBA All-Star has become the first player in the history of basketball to lead the post-season in all three major categories. Throughout Denver’s historic run, he tallied the most points, rebounds and assists of any player in the league. A first in NBA history.
He was also able to go past Wilt Chamberlain?s record to generate the most ?triples-doubles? in a playoff series. His performance resulted in his team’s first-ever NBA championship. Jokic?s current contract, which provides him an average of $29.5 million per year, already places him amongst the highest NBA earners.

While Shaq snubbed the player only a few days ago for another European, his confidence in Jokic?s potential acts as a sign that things will change for the better.
