Anthony Miracola holds several Guinness world records in basketball. However, one bad moment on TV has ruined his reputation as the self-proclaimed ‘greatest pure shooter in the world’. It all happened about four years ago during his time on Inside the NBA, where he was called to demonstrate his skills.

Miracola failed spectacularly going against Kenny Smith in a three-point contest. To make matters worse, The Jet made sure he rubbed this L on the 7x world record holder’s face. Recently, he spoke about his experience with the TNT crew and how it tarnished his image.

The infamous Inside the NBA clip  was brought to Miracola’s attention during the Gil’s Arena Show. The former Whiteford High School star said, “They were being real secretive on the phone before we went there. It’s a thing where it was just bizarre…They posted different videos of mine. Everybody was cool on the phone.” However, all of it was about to change once Anthony Miracola hit the sets of TNT.

One of the things that he had a problem with was that the TNT crew refused to pay for his wife’s flight tickets. It was just a really weird vibe, man,” he said. There is no doubt that Miracola is a great shooter as far as the success rate is concerned. His records include hitting 67 free throws in a minute and 31 three-pointers in a minute.

However, on the TNT set, he was consistently missing shots, hitting the ceiling, and even complained about not getting the right arc. 2x NBA champion Kenny Smith, on the other hand, buried 3 of 3 as Miracola missed all of his chances.

The Jet then celebrated it a little bit, probably because he was also happy to find out that he still got it. However, Miracola said that competition and disagreements are fine, but “don’t humiliate me and ruin my life and keep reposting.”

Kenny Smith vs. Miracola: the controversial shootout

Kenny ‘The Jet’ Smith is not any retired NBA pro. The former guard was lights out from deep during his illustrious career, playing a pivotal role in the Houston Rockets’ 2 NBA championships. For his career, Smith shot 44.5% from 3 during the postseason. But this wasn’t just a case of ‘The Jet’ still having his touch.

Following the accumulation of his titles, Miracola would proclaim himself as the “greatest pure shooter” and this didn’t sit well with former NBA pros, who knew just how different shooting in an empty gym is to shooting in a sold out arena. So, it seems, Kenny Smith and the Inside Guys wanted to make that difference clear.

Regardless of Smith’s reasons to celebrate, the damage done to Miracola’s career is immense. Since his entire image consists of him being a good shooter and holding world records, bouncing off of that nightmare-ish performance hasn’t been easy.

Miracola said that losing to Kenny wasn’t such a bad thing for him but what happened afterwards is where he draws the line. Especially because the fans and the network often share the clip of Kenny Smith securing that W. It’s been more than four years since this happened and there must’ve been some serious damage to his reputation which is why Anthony Miracola is still struggling to get over it.
