Chicago Bulls legends Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were as formidable a team as professional basketball has ever seen. Standing side by side, the duo led their team to over six championship parades. While they were united during their NBA days, their post-retirement dynamic has turned sour. ?One reason is related to Jordan?s 2020 Netflix documentary.
Touching base on the same, ESPN Sportscaster and longtime MJ fan Stephen A. Smith stated his opinion during a recent interview.

Smith was recently invited as a guest on ?Club Shay Shay?, an online talk show hosted by NFL legend Shannon Sharpe. During the conversation, Shannon Sharpe talked about renowned boxer Floyd Mayweather making each and every one of his opponents look ?mundane? after a win. Smith would go on to make a similar comparison in regards to Michael Jordan, as Sharpe protested in the background. ?LeBron will beat you but MJ would make you look like less than what you are,? said Stephen A. Smith during the interview.
Sharpe took the opportunity to bring up the name of Scottie Pippen, highlighting how the latter denounced his teammate?s prowess. To this, all Smith could say was ?Scottie was wrong.?
Sharpe asked his co-host about the reason why the documentary would put a Scottie Pippen event in it if Jordan wasn?t even a part of it.
Smith reminded the NFL star that ?The Last Dance? was about Jordan?s last season with the Bulls. With most of the major players making their exit at the same time, Smith clarified that the documentary focused on each of those players and their history with Jordan?s team.
Despite this fact, Sharpe maintained that ?The Last Dance? did not needed to show Pippen in such a bad light.
To this opinion, Smith only had a five letter statement to add: ?Scottie deserved to look bad.?
Michael Jordan considered his teammates to be ‘supporting cast’?
In an excerpt from his memoir, Unguarded, Scottie Pippen describes how the documentary felt unbiased and even unfair to the iconic #33.
“Each episode was the same: Michael on a pedestal, his teammates secondary, smaller, the message no different from when he referred to us back then as his ‘supporting cast,'” wrote Pippen in his autobiography.

Pippen escalated the feud further during an episode of the ?Gimme The Hot Sauce? podcast. During the same, the 7x NBA All Star claimed that His Airness was nothing before joining the Bulls. “I saw Jordan play before I came to play with the Bulls? said Pippen.
The six-time champion then infamously added the following quote. ?He was a horrible player. He was horrible to play with.?
