Legendary movie actor Carl Weathers recently passed away. The 76-year-old was known for his role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies, and Colonel Al Dillon in Predator among many other notable roles. His passing away has left a void in the cinema community, and we have had several notable celebrities sending their condolences and celebrating Weathers’ legacy.
Recently, NBA veteran Udonis Haslem sent his prayers for Weathers and his family as well. Haslem shared a fanboy moment for the late legend, unveiling that he still watches his movies, most notably Rocky III.
The training montage in the Rocky series is considered among the best training montages in cinema history. Haslem shared the training montage from Rocky III where Creed trains alongside Rocky, preparing him for the upcoming bout. The Miami Heat legend wrote, “I still watch this movie. RIP to a LEGEND. #greatestunderdogstoryever.” There have been a lot of other celebrities showing their admiration for the late legend as they reminisce about the times that they were fortunate enough to spend with Weathers.

Weathers managed to inspire generations through his extensive body of work. He was a true screen legend who spoke to the viewers through his performances, being an inspiration to millions through his work. Another legend of the craft, Jamie Foxx penned a heartfelt note for his idol. He wrote, “Rest in power to a man that inspired me to do what I do… Every time I watched Rocky I always rooted for Apollo Creed… hearing of his passing, brought real tears to my eyes… God has just gained another angel.”

Weathers was much more than just an actor, he was a cultural figure, a true icon for the boxing and bodybuilding community and so much more. The news of his passing away hit home for many who admired the great man for everything he stood for. UFC CEO Dana White shared Weathers’ quote in his gym “There is no tomorrow” with the caption “Rip Apollo Creed.” Other than Haslem, Shaquille O’Neal and Kevin Garnett also paid tribute to the late legend on their Instagram. Weathers’ longtime friend and screen partner Sylvester Stallone also penned a heartfelt note for him. Stallone wrote, “My life was forever changed for the better the day I met Carl Weathers. Rest in power and keeping punching.”
