“Please Apologize and Say Thank You”: Fans Call for Michael Jordan Reach Out After Scottie Pippen’s Profound Introspection

Success doesn’t always cure-all. While most would expect the winningest duo in NBA history to get along swimmingly, the reality, as they say, is much stranger than fiction. Since the Last Dance documentary, the relationship between Michael Jordan and his partner-in-crime has been in turmoil. Much was made of the discourse post the series’ release and its depiction of Scottie Pippen. As a result, the original Robin would respond with a fierce and harsh rebuttal to his former teammate in his book.

Today, the relationship is as bad as it has ever been. But, with Scottie showing off a profound message on his Instagram, could the Chicago Bulls legend be turning over a new leaf? “ Have you ever sat with yourself and thought about the concept of life? Time goes by FAST. You don’t get that back. Please go live. Love hard. Let go of fear. Love on yourself. Love the people around you. Appreciate the hardships. Trust YOUR process. Feed your faith and never forget to FEEL. A lifetime isn’t that long.” 

Further, the 6x NBA Champion would caption the post, “Chase dreams, not time. Make it count.” Despite Pippen having some very valid gripes with MJ, the discourse has been very pro-Jordan. And rightfully so.

Even though the point forward had genuine issues with the subject matter of the documentary, how Scottie went about his business left a sour taste in fans’ mouths. Moreover, the ardent love and support for Mike was hard to overcome too. But with Pippen seemingly changing his tune, fans were quick to wish for a reunion of the ages.

The top comment was to a similar effect. While the relationship has soured, there is a ton of history at play between the two legends. As a result, rebuilding the bond could be a possibility. The fan was ready to wish for that trajectory between the Chicago duo. “Which is why you should try and rebuild the relationship with Michael, Mr Pippen.”

Some fans, however, were less polite about it. Instead, they went as far as demanding that “Mr. Pippen” issue an apology to the GOAT. Comments like “Please apologize and say thank you to MJ” and “Call @jumpman23 and apologize” were all too commonplace.

The first step towards the rebuilding of that relationship could be a hugely auspicious night. As the entire dynasty gets the Ring of Honor from the Bulls, an appearance from #33 could be the first domino to fall. Fans were ready to partake in wishful thinking immediately. “You better be at the Ring of Honor ceremony.”

However, at face value too, the message from Scottie was immensely important. Many fans were in agreement with the idea and thought process behind it. “This is pure truth. When we are young we think it will keep going till its gone in an instant. I needed this reminder. When you are alone in a hospital bed, you have time to reflect and gain self awareness.”
