Once on the same team, Michael Jordan is now set to face competition from an ex-Chicago Bulls member. The alcoholic beverages manufacturing industry just had another addition from the basketball community in the form of a 5x NBA champion. His Airness has been in the industry ever since he co-founded his tequila brand, Cincoro, in 2019. And now, the Worm has followed a similar path with the launch of his own wine brand, The Rebel by Dennis Rodman.

Rodman recently shared an Instagram story, including an image of one of the wine bottles manufactured under his company. “Have you tried it yet?” read the caption to the story. Notably, the official website for the wine brand hints towards Rebel being a reflection of Rodman’s uniqueness in himself. “The Rebel is an expression of Dennis’ spirit and individuality through the art of winemaking as well, as an homage to the supporters along his journey. This limited-edition wine was crafted with both the collector and connoisseur in mind,” it reads.

The alcoholic beverages manufacturing industry has always been a profit earning venture. However, a study by Fortune Business Insights has shown that the market size of the industry has grown even further ever since after the COVID pandemic. The study further shows that the market size is likely to have even further gradual growth till 2029. This is likely the factor drawing more sports celebrities into this industry.

Other NBA stars involved in alcoholic beverage industry

Notably, Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman are not the only Bulls legends with standings in this industry. Scottie Pippen is an owner of his own bourbon brand named ‘Digits Bourbon’. He founded the brand back in 2021, along with a renowned winemaker named Dave Phinney.

Meanwhile, giving competition to Michael Jordan in his own segment is LeBron James. The King owns a tequila brand named ‘Lobos 1707 Tequila’. James’ company describes the brand as, “The tequila expressions, as well as artisanal mezcal, are all finished in pedro ximénez wine barrels from Spain and utilize the solera method of fractional blending to create each unique profile.”

“I knew the first time I tasted Lobos 1707 Tequila that it was special. When I learned more about the brand story and leadership team, I just wanted to be a part of it,” James had said on his brand. His former teammate is also building steam in the industry.

3x NBA champion Dwyane Wade is the owner of a wine company called Wade Cellars. He has also pursued his interest in the industry through an executive leadership role in UC Davis’ Viticulture and Enology department.
