One of Shaq’s favorite NFL pros is hanging up his cleats. It’s only right for the retired NBA pro to give him a warm welcome to the post-athletic life. While hosting Cam Newton on The Big Podcast, Shaquille O’Neal had to give Jason Kelce a shoutout. One of their old podcast moments has gone viral since the Eagles legend announced his retirement. Superman had to make another one of those epic moments in his signature fashion.

Shaq declared to Newton and Adam Lefkoe that he wanted to leave Kelce a message. He proceeded to record a hilarious message with Newton laughing in the background. “Jason, want to say – one, I knew you was going to do it too, my brother. Great career, love you, love your family.” After that heartwarming opening, came the hilarious warning from the experience 13 years of retired life. “Welcome to my life. Let me tell you what my life consists of – nothing!”

O’Neal, of course exaggerates. Since retiring from the NBA in 2011, he’s kept busy in his multiple businesses, TNT gig, EDM events, and even this podcast. Yet he acts like he’s in his sunset years. “Wake up, go outside, pick up that paper. I know you never done that before.”  He even suggests what Kelce can do with all his newfound free time. “You have your wife fix your plate, make your own plate. Wash your own dishes. You take out the garbage now.”

Kelce won’t be as idle as Shaq makes him out to be. He has multiple ventures, including his podcast with his brother, Travis. Yet Shaq throws it back to his Superman days with the best analogy and a lot of love. “Welcome to My Life buddy. You have converted yourself into a regular man. And Superman too when he went back to the north-south pole and gave his powers up, that’s what you have just done. Congratulations brother. I love you. Remember what I said, enjoy your beautiful wife and enjoy your family.”

As much as Cam Newton and Adam Lefkoe enjoyed Shaq’s hilarious video letter to Kelce, they latched on to one point the 4x NBA champion mentioned.

Shaquille O’Neal helped Jason Kelce accept retirement

Lefkoe and Newton were surprised that O’Neal knew Jason Kelce’s retirement is coming as for most of the NFL world, the announcement was a shocker. However, the Big Aristotle confirmed that he knew. It’s what prompted the heartfelt advice.

The last time O’Neal and Kelce were face-to-face in a podcast, Shaquille O’Neal gave Jason some profound advice. Weeks before Kelce announced his retirement, Shaq told him to not be afraid of it. “Accept it, enjoy your family, brother.” 

O’Neal reflected on his post-NBA life when he was also going through his divorce from Shaunie Henderson. He said he made “dumb mistakes” that cost him his family. The big man has previously been honest about the toll it took on his mental health.

From his funny message to his deep advice, it shows Shaquille O’Neal has a lot of fondness for Jason Kelce. We’re now waiting for Kelce’s response to Superman’s call.
