Magic Johnson, who is one of the part-owners of the Washington Commanders, was invited for a brief talk with the whole roster ahead of the new season. It was reported that the conversation went extremely well as many in the team asked some really good questions to the 3x NBA MVP.
Johnson also gave the team a nerve-wracking monologue about what it takes to be great. Magic said, “My message was preparation, preparation, preparation, and then discipline, discipline, discipline and then execution, execution, execution. And last but not least, they have to police themselves.”
According to the Washington Post, Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said, “You could tell they really bought into it and understood exactly what he was talking about. It’s funny — it’s kind of like being a parent. You can tell your kid all you want, but until somebody like Magic says it, it didn’t mean something.”

Magic Johnson’s humble beginnings
Magic Johnson was born and brought up in the disturbed and economically disadvantaged neighborhood of Lansing, Michigan. His father supported him and his nine other siblings through his modest job as a garbage collector. It was reported that Johnson also helped his father with the job. Johnson got a scholarship to Michigan State University, and the rest was history.
His arrival in Los Angeles proved to be the catalyst to not only the rise of the Lakers dynasty but also gave the NBA the much-needed boost. The NBA has only been on an upward trajectory since Magic stepped foot on an NBA court.
