NBA Veteran Backs Marcus Smart’s Outburst on Grizzlies’ Teammates Following Embarrassing Loss

The Memphis Grizzlies are going through a rough patch. The new season didn’t start as well as they would’ve wanted. The aftermath of poor results has started showing in the fans as well as the players. On this note, Marcus Smart let out his frustration on his teammates after an embarrassing loss.

While his actions were questioned by several fans on the internet, the 29-year-old recently received some encouraging words from an NBA veteran.

NBA veteran understands Marcus Smart’s frustration

The Grizzlies have had some major setbacks this year. First, their star player Ja Morant faced suspension for his actions off the court. This meant that Morant would be absent when the Grizzlies started their new season. He is set to make his return on December 19th.

Till now, however, the Grizzlies have endured enough losses that it will be a task to bounce back. They have lost 13 out of their 16 games and are currently on a three-game losing streak. After a recent loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Smart had had enough. He yelled “That’s fu**ing embarrassing”, to his teammates, showing his disappointment.

This was followed by some uproar on the internet by fans as they questioned the player for putting his teammates on blast. One NBA veteran, however, said that he understands what Smart is going through. Former Nets star, Vince Carter, while speaking on the incident said, “I know it’s coming from a pure place, he wants to win.” He said that it’s a matter of perspectives and it should be looked at as someone wishing the best for his team. Carter also expressed that the Grizzlies have a lot of potential but unfortunately, things are not working for them the way they’d have hoped for.

Further, he said that every team has players who express their feelings differently and there’s nothing wrong with what Smart said.

The Grizzlies season, moving forward

There is no denying that the Grizzlies are in very bad shape as of now. Injuries have also played a major part in the current situation of the Memphis franchise. There is no positive word about Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke either. They must be feeling the void of someone like Morant on the roster.

The season, however, is still only 19 games in and a lot can be done from here. With Morant set to make his comeback soon, fans can only hope for better things for their franchise.
