While Rome wasn’t built in a day, it definitely didn’t fall in one either. For the team that has come to define an entire era of basketball, the fall has been slow. Even though the Golden State Warriors will go down as THE team of the 2010s, they are falling apart as we approach the mid-2020s. While Charles Barkley was ready to call off the season after Game 1, the rest of the season has been evidence of the same. Even though Stephen Curry is his usual dominant self, the rest of the parts just aren’t there. Thus, many scenarios, trades, and potential ramifications are making the rounds.

However, one man who was part of the core during its heyday has a rather different opinion on the team. DeMarcus Cousins believes no trades are necessary to change the situation in The Bay. Speaking to Rachel Nichols, Boogie made his stance clear on a potential trade of the Warriors Big 3. “No, you can’t trade Klay. You can’t trade Draymond. This core group is what made the Warriors THE Warriors.”

Having joined the Dubs during their Kevin Durant era, the Sacramento Kings legend believes that their core is owed a certain amount of respect. “Those three guys are a huge part of the reason that this team is valued the way it is. And I think it would be a complete slap in the face if you dealt any of those guys…They have to leave with respect and I think those three guys are due that respect where they could play for one organization and ride off in the sunset when they feel they’re ready to do so,” explained the 4x NBA All-Star.

To Cousins, not giving the big 3 their proper credit for their role in shaping the organization would be a disservice. “None of this exists without these three guys and if you sit there and overlook it and act like it didn’t happen or they’re not the reason for this – that’s just complete bulls**t. So, no, I don’t think anybody should be traded.”

Moreover, Cousins would then take a shot at the NBA itself. According to him, the situation with Draymond Green isn’t the fault of the former DPOY.

While his actions led to a suspension and a hefty fine, Cousins doesn’t view it as Green’s fault solely. “I still feel like that’s been overblown as well. Because…This is something that was enabled by the NBA. They allowed this to happen.”

To him, the conversation had two sides based on how well the team was doing then. “Maybe it was because the Warriors were dominating the league…But, my whole thing is, when it comes to Draymond, it was enabled…Before, it was labeled passionate, the heart of the team…And now that they’re in these losing situations, you know, he’s the villain.”
