The blockbuster match-up between the Sacramento Kings and the Los Angeles Lakers turned out to be a disappointment for the latter. LeBron James and the LA unit have fallen prey to the mighty Kings once again and they do not have a shot at redemption here after this season. After getting swept by the Kings in the season series, the pressure has slowly started to cloud around the Lakers once again. However, in all these four losses, the one that is held the most accountable is Anthony Davis. After an underwhelming performance from the ‘Brow’ today, a former Boston Celtics star decided to publicly dish out a stern warning.

Kendrick Perkins decided to let Davis know about his shortcomings against the Kings star. He shared, “This is just flat-out disrespectful at this point what Sabonis is doing to AD!!! At some point, you gotta fight back. God Bless America.”

Davis managed to secure 22 points and 10 rebounds, but that came with a poor FG% of 39%. Ahead of the game today, AD was 0-9 against Sabonis, who has been an unstoppable all-around performer this season. Well, the Lithuanian center continued his excellence with another monstrous triple-double of 17 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists to put AD and the Lakers to sleep once again. Notably, Davis has not won a game against Sabonis in his 12-year-long career.

Battling European centers this season has been a problem for Davis for quite some time. Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Sabonis, etc. have brought out their ‘A’ game against his defense. Well, this can soon cost AD a lot of things!

Struggling against European centers: Can Anthony Davis make it to the USA Team roster?

The Lakers are in the play-in spot at the moment. Even if they make it to the playoffs, the top teams will not be an easy nut to crack. But let’s keep the NBA aside for a moment. Team USA which will be participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics is yet to choose its roster for the big tournament. The center role has a few options and Davis is indeed one of them for his defensive brilliance. However, the Olympics will have a few notable European NBA stars as mentioned above.

And AD is yet to prove he is better than them this season. Just 10 days ago, Nikola Jokic dropped 35 points and 10 rebounds, while the 30-year-old had only 17 points. Sabonis has secured back-to-back triple-doubles now. Further, if the Lakers make it to the playoffs, Davis will have to face these fierce competitors once again. If these disappointing numbers continue, this can cost an Olympic spot for the Lakers center.
