The interview featured a discussion on various topics, from how the couple is raising their 4-year-old daughter Kaavia, their celebration of ‘blackness’?to their move from Florida back in 2020.
During the same, the interviewer shifted the conversation to parenting lessons that the couple learned from their respective childhoods. Wade talked about how his father would always ensure to be there for the future athlete. ?He wasn?t front row at every basketball game, but he would peek in through the door,? said Wade in the interview with Parents.

The Miami Heat star appreciated the fact that whatever his parents were going through, they made it a point to be there for their son during the times he had to deal with some uncomfortable situations.

?My mother was on drugs most of my childhood. My father was an amazing man, but he was addicted to alcohol. Yet, they always put the kids first and got out of their way,??Wade revealed. Building upon what Wade said, the interviewer asked about the other ways in which his father influenced the soon-to-be Hall of Famer.

Wade said that despite growing up in a difficult environment, he tends to look at the ways of the world differently than others. From painting his nails and shaving his underarms to crossing his legs, he was inspired to break societal norms and do things that didn?t ?look manly? simply because he learned it from his father. The man he saw ?growing up in the hood?. ?He would shower three times a day and change his clothes,? said Wade. ?That?s why I do things that work for me and my personality.?
