Muggsy Bogues Reveals His Only Regret With Mid-Season NBA Initiative

The NBA In-Season Tournament is a visual change as much as a seasonal change in the NBA calendar. While the additional weight to games is a novel idea, the bright neon courts haven’t found any fans. Until now, that is. While the games have been spectacular, Muggsy Bogues might have been the first to glowingly praise the initiative.

In a tweet by the Charlotte Hornets’ official page, the 5’3 guard was all praises for the new look. However, it also brought out a regret for him.

During his career, Muggsy made it a regular occurrence to overcome the odds. At 5’3, no one was expecting much from him on the professional stage. However, his defensive tenacity and passing vision made him a valuable part of the league for a long time.

Whether it was with the Golden State Warriors, or notably the Charlotte Hornets, Bogues was among the better passers of his generation. But seeing the new court for the in-season tournament was a wholly unique experience for him.

“Look at this court. This is amazing. Why they can’t have this during our time? This is awesome. I love it. I definitely would have wanted an In-Season Tournament during our time. Because it’s a long season and as they continue to give incentives.”?

But, Muggsy thinks the league might have another motive for the additions to its calendar. “I think the NBA are also trying to create this environment for this next generation, this is amazing…It’s going to be good for the league as well as for the fans.”

While Muggsy is immediately on board, more people are joining his side seeing the product on display. While an official verdict can only be made in due course of time, so far the games in the In-Season Tournament have been electric. Whether it be a coincidence, or the additional lure of $500,000, the games have been intense and competitive.

LeBron James, in peak hilarious fashion, paid credence to the additional income as extra motivation for his performance. But, regardless of the reasoning, the intensity and play have been undeniable.

Even though it was met with initial skepticism, could the In-Season Tournament be a rousing success?
