The NBA and hip-hop worlds have always been in symphony with each other. Whether it is Damian Lillard becoming a household name as a rapper or the likes of Lonzo Ball releasing a joke diss track about his teammates,?NBA stars have frequently taken their talents to the studio. And this is no new feat. In the ’90s, Shaquille O’Neal released multiple platinum and gold-selling rap projects. As a result, the two industries have always been closely associated. Frequently, we see stars from the music world, especially rappers, in attendance at NBA games too.
So, it wasn’t surprising to see a former Finals MVP throw a shoulder of support to rapper Gunna.

The rap world has always had a negative image. Some true, some stereotypical, rappers have dealt with the repercussions of the image for ages now. However, one incident in early 2022 rocked the entire music industry. Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, more popularly known as Gunna, was charged with one count of racketeering. According to the indictment, the rapper received stolen property while also possessing drugs, with an intent to distribute. On May 11, 2022, Gunna was behind bars after pleading guilty.

However, the rapper walked free in December.
While his name has certainly gone through the mud, it seems like the 30-year-old has not lost all of his fans. Even though he had a stellar career, Paul Pierce is most famous these days for his outlandish takes.
But, in a show of solidarity, Pierce posted a clip on his Twitter page. In the background, Gunna’s hit, bread & butter, from his latest album, A Gift & a Curse, was?pumping?on the speakers.
Chilling in his pool, the Boston Celtics legend let out his thoughts on the situation. “Everybody talk about…They don’t mess with Gunna no more, I don’t wanna hear that. He’s Still Bumping.”?
While controversial, there are very few NBA players who can speak about the horrific street life more than Paul Pierce.
Paul Pierce was stabbed
In a brutal display, Celtics forward Paul Pierce was brutally stabbed eleven times on September 25th, weeks before the start of the 2000-01 NBA season.
The incident took place at the Bazz Club in Boston with Pierce receiving three shots to the stomach, and five to the back.

Further, he was also hit with a bottle to the head, an injury that later had to be surgically repaired.
Even with the NBA’s horrifying history, this was one of the most shocking and brutal things to happen to an NBA player. While Pierce spoke about his mental health struggles following the incident, he was also straight-up inspirational.
Weeks later, Pierce was back on the court and would go on to play the entire 82-game season. Since then, Paul has carved out a legendary career for himself, including bringing Boston its first championship in 20 years.
