Magic Johnson has always advocated for equal representation in society in all senses. The NBA icon has continued with the celebration of black history month along the same lines. Johnson paid a powerful tribute to the first African American Vice President of the United States. From providing a brief look into her personal life to highlighting her major accomplishments, the tribute covers it all.
This came as a part of the NBA icon’s ‘Magnifying Black Magic’ initiative. Johnson uploaded an Instagram story celebrating the achievements of VP Kamala Harris. “Kamala D. Harris is the first woman, the first African-American woman, the first Indian-American, the first person of Asian-American descent, and the first graduate of an HBCU to be sworn in as the Vice President of the United States of America,” read the Instagram story.

The story tribute, followed by a photo of Johnson with Kamala D Harris, gave a quick recap of her journey from civil rights marches in her young days to her becoming the first African-American and first woman Attorney General of California. “In 2016, she was elected as a Senator for California, becoming only the second African-American woman ever to be elected to the Senate in U.S. history,” it read further.
The LA Lakers star in his tribute spotlighted the path Harris took from becoming one of the US Senators to the US Vice President. Apart from her personal achievements, he also reflected on Kamala’s contribution towards the upliftment of the community and women. “She also presided over the unprecedented vote to confirm the first African-American woman, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, to the Supreme Court,” read the story furthering Johnson’s initiative.
