Lakers Legend Magic Johnson Celebrates LeBron James’ NBA All Star Achievement Surpassing Kareem Abdul Jabbar

Another day, another LeBron James record. This time around, it was the Kid From Akron passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, again. While he overtook the scoring record from the Los Angeles Lakers legend, the longevity keeps shocking everyone. Father Time might be undefeated, but as The King said, he wants “to give it one loss.” With a 20th All-Star selection, he’s well on his way to doing just that. Congratulating the Western Conference All-Star captain was an old friend and teammate – also the man LeBron surpassed – Magic Johnson.

“Congratulations to LeBron James on the historic milestone of most All-Star selections in NBA history, with 20!” The 5x NBA Champion who always keeps himself in the loop with the happenings around the association wasted no time in penning the congratulatory note.

From a historical context, the feat is practically unprecedented. The 6x NBA Champion with the league’s deadliest Skyhook was the only player who came close to James’ 20-straight tally. But, with no signs of slowing down, how many more selections could LBJ rack up?

However, James’ selection was one of the least shocking parts of the All-Star selection ballots. That slice of cake belonged to the exclusion of Stephen Curry and the emergence of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. One of the front-runners for MVP, the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar is making a believer out of everyone.

Shaquille O’Neal, typically a huge Curry fan, was unmoved by the “snub”. Instead, his fascination with SGA continued as he called the selection a direct result of the hard work that Alexander had put in. On the Eastern side of the bracket, however, was a much bigger point of discussion.

All-Star ballots send fans into a frenzy

While the usual host of customers, Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jayson Tatum made the starting lineup, the guard position was in flux. Given the state of the Conference, the results weren’t going to please everybody. However, the one lock for the slot was most assuredly Tyrese Haliburton. The Indiana Pacers guard had leaped superstardom, powering the most potent offense in league history.

However, what was shocking to fans was the exclusion of Becky Hammon’s favorite player, Jalen Brunson, with Damian Lillard taking his spot. Despite the historical edge Dame has over Brunson, the 6-foot PG in New York has been the better player this season by every metric. As a result, his placement behind Lillard was a shocker for everyone.
