NBA legend Dwyane Wade had one of the most successful basketball careers and was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame as well. However, it was not served to him on a silver platter. Wade came from very humble beginnings. Growing up in a drug-infested area in Chicago, the 3x NBA champion saw his mother struggling with addiction. The 41-year-old does not forget where he comes from and time and again helps the community. Recently, he was back in Chicago for a life-changing event.

Wade is very generous when it comes to charity and founded the Wade?s World Foundation in 2003. The foundation focuses on empowering the communities of Chicago, Milwaukee, and the South Florida areas.

The former Miami Heat star is a very successful entrepreneur and currently has an estimated net worth of $170 million. Over the years, Wade has given a lot of his hard-earned money to charity. However, the NBA legend can help the community in more than one way. And he proved it once again during the recent annual WayMaker Men’s Summit in Chicago.

According to the WayMaker website, the event focuses on bringing together African-American men to equip and empower themselves, their families, and the community. Furthermore, successful people from various industries share their experiences and knowledge to help young men who attend the event. For this year’s event, Wade was one speaker among other celebrities like Nick Cannon, Jay Ellis, and so forth.

After the event, The Flash took his timeout to meet the fans. One fan shared a clip of Wade’s interaction with the fans on social media with the caption, “The vibes tho …changing lives and I’m here for it!” Wade then re-shared the clip on his Instagram story.

 

During the event, the Hall of Famer reportedly shared his insights on the theme “Succeeding outside of your comfort zone“. Given Wade’s success, his wisdom could be massively helpful to any youngster. Moreover, Wade has always had a special place in his heart for Chicago.

The impact of Michael Jordan and the Bulls

Dwyane Wade grew up watching Michael Jordan and iconic the Chicago Bulls as a young boy from Chicago. The 13x NBA All-Star once revealed that the 6x NBA champion was a huge influence on him.

He stated, ?Michael didn?t know that this was that all these moments and whether he was talking to me, whether he was playing the game of basketball. He didn?t know, he didn?t know the influence that he was having on a little kid, you know growing up in the inner city of rob?s Illinois in Chicago. And his influence was so impactful on me.?

During his illustrious NBA career, Wade also had the opportunity to play for his childhood team. Even though it was during the tail end of his career and it did not work, it would have been a dream come true moment for any fan.
