The NBA might be on course for a record number of ejections in a season. The most recent to join this tally is the Houston Rockets coach Ime Udoka and their forward Dillon Brooks. Although the duo deemed their ejection as “unacceptable”, that is not what the rest of the league is thinking.

Recently, ex-Dallas Mavericks star Chandler Parsons talked about the ejection on the Run It Back show. Parsons said that he was stunned by what took place on the court and was shocked that things didn’t get worse.

What led to Dillon Brooks’ ejection?

Brooks was ejected in the late fourth quarter of the Rockets game against the Milwaukee Bucks. He deflected a pass from Khris Middleton and went to recover the ball with 46 seconds left on the clock and they were down by 9. After a slight nudge from Middleton, Brooks was out of bounds. By that point, Brooks already had a technical, and the referee Suyash Mehta handed him another technical which led to his ejection. Following that decision, Brooks was so infuriated that he started yelling in the referee’s face.

The ex-NBA star discussed this incident on the show, saying that he “didn’t see much of a flop there and there was definitely some contact.” However, the referee saw it as something else and he was ejected from the game. Despite his lenient opinion on the alleged flopping, Parsons was not pleased with the verbal abuse from the Rockets star. He said, “I heard the audio of what [Dillon Brooks] was saying to this ref… You can’t talk to a guy like that.” Brooks’s on-court rant was full of expletives, and he was saying it to the referee’s face, so he had to go out.

However, coach Udoka wasn’t pleased with the decision at all. Despite this being his second ejection of the season, he stood his ground while claiming that his team had been treated unfairly in the game.

What did Ime Udoka say about the ejection?

He said, “It was a blatant missed push out of bounds on that call.” The coach blamed the refs for poor calls and hinted that it cost him the game. Udoka said, “Same refs missing the same calls throughout the game, calling it very quickly or tight on other plays. It was that specific play, but it was a ton of missed calls throughout.”

Brooks had 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals in the game that the Rockets lost to the Bucks. He has been churning out good performances, but they are marred by his on-court antics. If the Rockets want to reclaim their position in the title race, moving forward, he’ll have to abide by the rules that the league is following right now.
