After his horrific tenure at the LA Lakers, Russell Westbrook finally found his rhythm at the LA Clippers. However, even there, after the franchise acquired the 76ers star James Harden, he got sidelined. But instead of getting agitated and throwing tantrums about the situation, Russ handled it with maturity and composure. The player made a selfless move by voluntarily deciding to come off the bench, showcasing his commitment to the team’s success before individual glory.
Looking at Westbrook’s decision, Robert Horry spoke about how good of a player he is on his podcast “Big Shot Bob“. There he spoke about Russell’s sacrificial move and how they made him a scapegoat at the Lakers.

Westbrook has shown adaptability since joining the Clippers by altering his role to meet the demands of the club. He has taken on a variety of roles to help the squad succeed, from a catalyst to a scorer. However, deliberately taking a bench role is his most important sacrifice yet, demonstrating his commitment to the Clippers’ common aims. Witnessing this, the 7x NBA champion, Robert Horry spoke about him in his podcast, “Big Shot Bob“.
There he said, “I think Russ is smart. And I think Russ is trying to show everybody around the league that he’s willing to do anything to win. Because, you know for a while everybody was making Russ the bad guy. You know, the Lakers made him the bad guy. You know everywhere he went they were making him the bad guy. And I think with him is that he wants to win.
“I know Russ and I know he wants to win and he has the desire to do the right thing. And I think he probably said that(voluntarily coming off the bench) because he knows there are too many cooks in the kitchen.” Westbrook’s decision also is taking into consideration the Clippers’ current situation. The team has gotten 2 back-to-back victories and they are gaining momentum.

Norman Powell’s strong impact on the Clippers
Norman Powell’s outstanding performance against the Spurs demonstrated his shooting ability, defensive brilliance, and overall influence off the bench. He was a unique force for the Clippers, finishing with 19 points, five rebounds, two steals, and a block. His ability to play on both sides of the floor offers depth to the club, giving him a strong candidacy for Sixth Man of the Year. Even Horry spoke highly of him and said, “Russ and Norman Powell play well together. And Norman Powell to me is that glue for the Clippers.”
He further said, “You know you have superstars. You got those like George and Leonard but you need guys like Norman Powell who are just whatever you need ‘I got you’.” As the Clippers continue to navigate the season, Powell and Westbrook’s efficient teamwork adds an intriguing layer to the team’s depth. Regardless of their late contributions, the Clippers are becoming a formidable force in the league.
