It’s not the first time that we’ve heard Lamar Odom and a car crash in the same sentence. The former NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers has been in a few accidents over the years. He was even arrested for DUI back in 2013, and his ex-wife Khloe Kardashian filed for divorce a few months later. Khloe Kardashian and Odom got hitched back in 2009. Although they fell for each other in a short time, it is said that their marriage blew off due to Odom’s substance abuse. The couple officially separated in 2016.

Following his declining health over the years, the 2x champion has been sober ever since his health scare in 2015. But this didn’t help him avoid this unfortunate incident that happened recently. Even though he has been taking care of his body for years, a momentary lapse in judgment has led to another car crash.

Lamar Odom was behind the wheels when he crashed his car

Lamar Odom crashed his Mercedes worth $114,500 into two parked cars according to reports from TMZ. The 43-year-old was driving back home from a friend’s house when he dropped his phone in the car. He tried to retrieve the phone while driving and lost control of the steering wheel.

This led to him crashing into a parked car in his neighborhood, which then hit another car as collateral. Luckily, no one was in the parked cars. Odom himself didn’t need any medical assistance following the crash, as his airbags deployed correctly.

The LAPD was called, but they didn’t take a police report. The police apparently asked Lamar Odom if he had been drinking, to which he replied that he hadn’t. Odom also told them about being sober and that he owned rehab facilities.

After explaining the situation to the LAPD, no police report was filed. A field sobriety test was not conducted. The owners of the parked cars came out, and Odom gave them his insurance details. He was later driven home by his security, and his car was towed.

Lamar Odom’s personal struggles and redemption

Lamar Odom has been battling his addiction and mental health issues for years. Following his overdose and coma in 2015, Odom has been on a journey of rehabilitation. Since then, he has made a full recovery and has openly talked about his journey.

He later released a memoir titled ‘Darkness to Light’, where he goes over his entire process, from addiction all the way to his recovery. Lamar Odom has since started the Odom Wellness Treatment Centers in California. He bought three drug rehab centers during this process. He has been doing his part to help the people that he could.
