The influence of music on basketball cannot be easily described. But it’s an integral part of the culture. From blasting music as loud as they can in practice sessions to trying to make their own songs, basketball players have a strong connection to hip-hop music. Getting name-dropped by artists in their songs is common nowadays.

Months after J. Cole name-dropped Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant in a song with Burna Boy, another iconic duo compares themselves to the Los Angeles Lakers duo.

Days after trolling the entire NBA with his emo mode, Jimmy Buttler is now giving his praises to rappers. In a spurge of stories on Instagram, Butler went on to share songs by Drake, Fat Joe, and Rick Ross. In the new song by Rick Ross, Butler shared the image of the song from Spotify and tagged Rick Ross.

Meek Mill and Rick Ross always produce amazing songs when they work together. In a recent song that they released, they acknowledged it themselves. The song is titled ‘SHAQ & KOBE’.

They go back to back on the track. Meek Mill starts off the track and throws bars in the first verse. Rick Ross comes in for the second verse. Meek Mills talks about getting to where he is now with pure dedication and hard work. In a recent interview with Apple Music, Meek Mills said that they have already won at everything. He also said that their new project will be out soon.

 

They both talk about the essence of having money and power in the chorus. They are definitely an iconic duo like Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.

Once his rookie contract with the Orlando Magic was up, Shaquille O’Neal decided to sign with the Lakers. This was a match made in heaven. Even though on paper it looked good, no one could have predicted how dominant the both of them could actually be together. Kobe was new to the league, so his development as a player was still in question in the early days.

But the two players reached new heights. They won three championships together. Shaq’s inside presence helped Kobe elevate himself as a player, as defenses focused more on Shaq. But as Kobe also took the step, there were not enough bodies on the floor to stop the two.

The Magic letting go of Shaquille O’Neal is one of the biggest fumbles in NBA history. But that led to the formation of one of the most iconic duos in the history of the sport. A duo that is still looked up to to this day and is often mentioned any time we see two people working together and succeeding.
