Kyrie Irving went out there and created another masterclass to send the Denver Nuggets home. Putting the defending champs to sleep is nothing new for the Dallas Mavericks star. How can we forget his lead of three over Stephen Curry in game 7 of the 2016 Finals? However, Irving might have topped that iconic three with a stunning left-hook shot today that has sent the internet into a frenzy. Well, even a calm and composed Magic Johnson couldn’t help but jump out of his couch, screaming.

Irving, who was defended by a 6’11 Nikola Jokic, caught the ball at the corner and ran all the way near the free throw line to hit a tough hook shot with his left hand. The buzzer was alarmed as soon as he swished it, and the entire American Airlines Center erupted. Magic Johnson had a similar reaction, but he was at home in disbelief.

The 5x Los Angeles Lakers champion was awestruck as he tweeted, “I jumped off my couch screaming after Kyrie’s game-winning shot from behind the free throw line for the Mavericks over the reigning champs Nuggets!! It’s one of the greatest, if not the greatest, left-hand game-winning shot I’ve ever seen.” That’s a bold claim from Magic himself!

Irving finished the game with 24 points and 9 assists, stealing the spotlight from Luka Doncic, who secured 37 points and 9 rebounds. Magic Johnson has nothing but love for the 31-year-old champion. The three-time MVP has been appreciative of modern NBA players. He has never missed an occasion to give his favorite stars their due credit. This praise today is noteworthy, but this is not the first time.

Magic Johnson believes Kyrie Irving is a “video game”

Irving has played for four different franchises in the NBA. One thing that has never changed in all these years is his ability to score. While a few have criticized him for controversial exits, others have badly wanted him to play for their favorite team. Johnson is one of them, who desired to see Irving in the purple and yellow jersey for the Lakers when he demanded a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. And there is a reason behind it. The 64-year-old shared, “The greatest compliment I can give him is he really is a video game. These kids play it — my grandson plays it, my son plays it — and he’s out there actually doing it.”

Johnson also added, “He’s the one player who can electrify a crowd while also making the opposing players on the bench go crazy after he just crossed up their teammate. That’s how great he is.” Well, Irving exactly did that today. Although it was not one of his deadly crossovers, it was still an amusing buzzer-beater. Irving’s saga continues, but let’s see if he can take the 7th-seed Mavericks to the playoffs.
