Joel Embiid has become unstoppable. The Philadelphia 76ers star has been churning out great performances every time he steps onto the court. Embiid’s performances are not only being noticed by the fans, but the veterans are also chiming in. Recently, NBA veteran and sports analyst Sam Mitchell showered praise on the 29-year-old.

Mitchell compared Embiid’s run to that of Wilt Chamberlain’s. The 60-year-old said that the league has never witnessed anything like this since Chamberlain bid farewell to the game.

There is no denying that Embiid has been ruthless. The 76ers star has picked up his form where he left off last season. He was the season MVP last year and is continuing the same dominant run this season as well. Amazed by the series of good performances from the 6x NBA All-Star, Mitchell said, “He’s balling man. He’s playing unbelievable. He’s the best player in the NBA right now.” The NBA veteran also brought Nikola Jokic into the mix by comparing the two-star athletes. He said, “I know we talk about the Joker and how special and how great the Joker is”.

Although equally impressed by Jokic, Mitchell thinks that what we are witnessing with Embiid is something we haven’t seen in a very long time. He said, “But right now, Joel Embiid is dominating the game like we haven’t seen since Wilt Chamberlain. He is just destroying people.” This comparison must feel special for the 29-year-old as Chamberlain was one of the biggest players this sport has ever seen. “When he walks on the court, he’s letting it be known I’m the biggest, I’m the baddest”, Mitchell added. The NBA veteran also believes that when Embiid “gets going, there’s nothing you can do with it”.

This may sound like a huge comparison, but going by Embiid’s recent run, he deserves every bit of praise coming his way. The 29-year-old is averaging 35 points and 11.7 rebounds per game this season. Once again, he is the frontrunner on the Kia MVP ladder. Embiid’s performances are making a clear difference for the team as well.

The 76ers are currently placed 3rd on the Eastern Conference charts and have a 20-8 record. The Philly franchise is also on a two-game winning streak and is a prime contender for this year’s championship run.
