Former NBA superstar and 5X Champion Magic Johnson has been married to his wife Cookie Johnson for 32 years. They share one child, EJ Johnson, who was born in 1992, and adopted their daughter Elisa Johnson in 1994. Magic met his wife in 1978 at Michigan State University and immediately hit it off, dating on and off for more than a decade. They decided to tie the knot in 1991.

The couple has never looked back ever since, as decades into their marriage, they continue to be mesmerized by each other. Magic made this clear by uploading a video on Instagram, and dedicating it to Cookie. As Valentine’s Day rolled around, hlavished his beautiful wife with Valentine’s Day wishes, and the love was felt through the screen.

The 3X MVP shared a heartwarming montage of images and videos on Instagram taken through the years with his wife. He uploaded this with the song ‘What You Won’t Do for Love‘ by Bobby Caldwell in the background. Taking a few lines from the song, the big romantic Magic penned a sweet message for Cookie in the caption, ““I got a thing for you, that I can’t let go…”🎶Happy Valentine’s Day to my forever valentine! I love you, Cookie! ❤️

But wait there’s more! Magic also recorded a voiceover for the video, expressing his love for his sweetheart. He says, “I love you and it’s been a true blessing to be your partner in crime for over thirty years.” That’s another thing to learn from the basketball maestro on how to nurture love and keep it alive for decades.

Who is Cookie Johnson?

Cookie was born Earleatha Kelly in Huntsville, Alabama on 20th January 1959. She was born in the same year as her husband and is a few months older than him. Her nickname Cookie was given to her by her mother, after the 77 Sunset Strip character ‘Kookie’ played by Edd Byrnes. Eventually, she tweaked the spelling and changed it to ‘Cookie.’ She is a successful author and businesswoman. She wrote the best-selling book ‘Believing in Magic,’ detailing her journey in life with Magic which shot her to fame.

Known for her empathy and grace, Cookie is known to stand up for abused and homeless women as a motivational speaker. She owns a denim line called CJ by Cookie Johnson, which is an extension of her passion to empower women and generate jobs. She also joined hands with her husband to establish The Magic Johnson Foundation (MJF) to help the underprivileged sections of society. As for Magic, he always credits his success in the NBA to Cookie’s support and dedication as a wife.
