Even after retiring from the league in 2016, Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant is still one of the most influential figures in the basketball world. His influence on both the younger and older generations can be seen just from the shoes they wear on the court. In 2022, the most worn shoe on the court in the NBA was the ‘Nike Kobe 6 Protro’.

With the fans and players’ love for the brand, Vanessa Bryant has collaborated with Nike yet again to bring out the newest version of the Protro in the Kobe 6 line for the holiday season. But she took to Instagram to share a new, never-before-seen collection that will also come out in December.

New exclusive Kobe Bryant collection for the holiday season

Vanessa shared on Instagram new images of the Protro 6 ‘Reverse Grinch’, which will be released in December 2023. Following this, she also released new images of a Mamba Mentality-inspired sneaker and jacket collection. Based on Vanessa’s caption for the post, ‘This holiday season is going to be special’. It seems like we will be able to get the ‘Job’s Not Finished’ collection, along with the ‘Reverse Grinch’ in December.

On the bottom of the jacket, it says World Champions, along with all the years Kobe won the NBA championships. On the left of the snake, there is a ‘mamba mentality’ stitched onto the jacket. Similarly, on the right side, it is stitched as ‘jobs not finished’. This is from the iconic moment in Kobe’s career where he tells the reporter that he won’t be happy until he has reached the goals and not just for taking a step toward them. Towards the top of the back, Kobe’s signature is stitched into the jacket.

On the front of the jacket, it has the iconic ‘sheath’ logo on the left side. And on the right, it’s written, ‘Passion’, ‘Obsession’, ‘Relentless’, ‘Resilience’, and ‘Fearless’ in that order.

Vanessa Bryant’s collaboration with Nike

In 2021, Vanessa Bryant didn’t renew her contract with Nike. Instead, she focused on her own brand called the ‘Mamba and Mambacita Foundation’. She expressed frustration with Nike regarding the lack of products available under the Kobe name following his death. She also pointed out that she expressed her concerns about the quantity of Grinch shoes that were made to be sold. The shoes sold out instantly when they came online. This made her not resign from the brand in 2021.

In 2022, she announced that she would continue working with Nike to honor Kobe’s legacy and release new shoes with them. She is now releasing the new Reverse Grinch shoes in grade school sizes as well. This new collection from her is also a way by which Kobe’s legacy lives on.
