Hollywood Favorite Adam Sandler & Kevin Garnett Unravel Original Smitty Move After Declaring Undying Love for 76ers Legend

Adam Sandler is one of the few celebrities who isn’t scared to step into public places just so he can do something he enjoys. If you’re lucky enough (and in New York), the actor might sometimes join you on the court. However, the lucky one for now is Sandler himself. Together with the Boston Celtics legend Kevin Garnett, he had the chance to explore numerous things about the sport. From Sandler’s inspiration to his movies, the duo discussed several facets of basketball and what influenced the Hollywood star to continue with his passion. 

The two previously worked together in the 2019 movie, “Uncut Gems.” As they sat for an amazing conversation at the latest episode of KG Certified, the duo tried to uncover a legendary move.

Sandler is a household name in the entertainment industry. However, he keeps returning to the rim whenever he gets a chance. Well, he is not a pro player but he is quite good at the game. Moreover, he even had the chance to play with the Celtics legend Kevin Garnett. During the conversation, Garnett asked him if he had any signature moves.

While Sandler tried to explain his signature move, the 2008 NBA champion figured out it was the popular Smitty move.

 He recognized it to be former NBA player and analyst Steve Smith’s original move called the Smitty.

The 15-time All-Star payer declared, “It’s the Smitty….That’s the Smitty. The smitty acts like you’re going in and then you go.” He added, “Steve Smith, he made that move. Isiah Thomas and John Stockton used to do this.”

Steve Smith was one of the finest basketball players and he played for 14 seasons in the league. Even if Sandler unknowingly imitated Smith’s signature move, his biggest inspiration was actually Philadelphia 76ers legend Julius Erving.

During the conversation, Sandler explained how he always admired Erving.

He even put up a poster of Dr. J in his room, not a surprising phenomenon for a basketball enthusiast. Furthermore, he was fascinated by the legend’s greeting style. “A doc handshake’s even kind of like f**king big motherf**king hands. Holds you, gives you some love. Eye contact.”
