With numerous chart-toppers such as ‘God’s Plan’ and ‘Laugh Now Cry Later‘, Drake has continued to dominate the hip-hop world. Days after the 34-year-old rapper’s latest album ‘For All The Dogs’, in association with Kevin Durant came out, the 5x Grammy Award winner has become the talk of the town again. Amidst the furor, a former NBA star tried to explain the reason behind the rapper’s worldwide popularity.

During a conversation on his podcast, Gilbert Arenas spoke about Drake’s latest album. Arenas praised the impact Drake has over fans and enthusiasts and pointed out how the 34-year-old has continued to evolve.

Arenas said, “Drake just outsmarted everyone else in a sense where he is vampiring…the only way you can stay up is to go down. Go to the young guys who are popping.” Arenas commended how Drake teams up with other rising rappers and talents for his albums.

He added, “He looks at who is about to be popping and he rides that wave back to the top. You can’t hate it. The older generation Wu-Tang. They just wasn’t smart enough to understand that when the new wave comes back, you can fight it all you want but this is a young man’s game.”

Arenas’ comment came after the rapper’s new album, ‘For All The Dogs’ earned worldwide acclaim. This album was also created in collaboration with Phoenix Suns star, Kevin Durant.

How is Kevin Durant related to Drake’s album?

As soon as the rapper updated about his new album on his IG, all the attention was on the cover. Interestingly, the cover was created by Adonis, Drake’s 5-year-old son. But fans also noticed Durant’s name on the cover, with Drake tapping the 2x NBA champion to A&R on this album.

It was not surprising to see the player’s name since he has collaborated with Drake in the past. He appeared in some of the rapper’s hit music videos like ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ and ‘Rich Flex’. Beyond Durant, the rapper has strong friendships with several other prominent figures in the basketball world and is frequently seen spending time with LeBron James, among others.
