The NBA Hall of Fame remains one of the most prestigious groups in basketball immortality. While a touch more inclusive than other sports, the group still hosts some of the best the league has ever seen. But, the discussion for deservedness remains a subjective one. While some people value ability, others might value the impact of winning. Even though his resume is impeccable, one name remains divisive in these discussions. However, Gilbert Arenas believes the former DPOY doesn’t deserve a spot.
The 2023 NBA Hall of Fame ceremony was recently concluded. The Class of 23′ included the likes of NBA legends Dwyane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol, and so forth.

Let’s go through his case for being in the Hall of Fame. While Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are two of the best shooters in NBA history, Draymond Green is often credited with being the heart and soul of the Golden State Warriors. His presence is vitally important to setting the legendary Warriors culture.
Whether it’s four All-Star selections, a DPOY award, or the four championships, Draymond has accomplished a lot in his time in the league. Further, his passing and IQ remain an integral part of the Warriors system. And, it is his versatility that unleashed the potent “small-ball” lineup that still remains a mismatch.

While his co-host agreed, claiming, “I feel like Draymond Green will make the Hall of Fame based on what he’s been able to contribute to the Warriors’ success as a dynasty,”?Gilbert Arenas sang a different tune. For him, Green doesn’t qualify.
“He wouldn’t be able to stand on his own if you take his rings away. Hall of Fame should be the number 1 option or great a** number 2. Some of these people shouldn’t even be in it, I’m sorry. Take all the rings off and you by yourself should be able to stand proudly,” declared Arenas.
It comes in shocking contrast to the NBA fans. While the Washington Wizards veteran remains against the idea, fans were all aboard the bandwagon.
Fans are all on Draymond Green’s side
While Arenas’ comments remain shocking to say the least, Green at least has fans’ support. Earlier in the year, Draymond spoke on his podcast about his dream of getting into the Hall of Fame. Fans from across the NBAverse all voiced their approval of his desire.

Whether it be the accolades or his importance to the dynasty, fans could not stop gushing over the loudmouth Warrior. Despite being notoriously hated by most of the fandom, it was refreshing to see the collective fanbase show respect for a stellar career.
Whether he finds himself on the mountaintop or not, remains to be seen. But, with another season coming up, and the Warriors still looking ready to feast with a new Point God?amongst them, can Green add to a stellar resume?
