Being born to a father who played professional basketball during his time meant that the 4x NBA champion started his training at a young age.

In a recent episode of?The Skweek Show by Tony Parker, which featured Dwyane Wade, Jay Williams, Pau Gasol, and Dirk Nowitzki, Parker opened up about the ‘biggest fear’ he had during his time playing basketball.
Parker had success on the court even before he made it to the NBA. He won the EuroLeague Championship before he stepped foot in the NBA. His father played a big role in making sure he was prepared for all this. While he grew up in France, the 41-year-old’s dad is African American and played for Loyola University in Chicago. Tony Parker Sr. was always proud of his heritage and the fact that Americans were the best at basketball.

But Tony Parker always had this fear that Americans might not respect him because he might not be as good as the local players. Then he revealed that he was also afraid his dad might not be proud of him if he was mediocre and not one of the best players.

Well, it’s safe to say that he has made his dad proud. Being a floor general, he led the Spurs to four championships during his time. He was even named the Finals MVP in 2007. A few days before the interview, he was given the ultimate honor and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The San Antonio Spurs, under Gregg Popovich’s care, built a dynasty that lasted a decade. The two who introduced Parker into the Hall of Fame were Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili. Parker’s time with the Spurs started under the guidance of David Robinson, and towards the end of his career, he was able to guide a young Kawhi Leonard.

But the big three of the Spurs were the reason that they were able to be a force to reckon with for years. Parker was the point guard who led the team with his court vision and ability to find gaps in opponents’ defense. He is definitely one of the greatest international players of all time and has made his dad proud.
