Having Encountered ‘Paranormal’ Experience Before HoF Honor, Dwyane Wade Reveals Surreal Impact on Parents

At the end of this week, Dwyane Wade will be a Hall-of-Famer. After winning championships with Miami Heat, this would be one of the biggest highlights of his NBA career. His evolution from an upstart of humble beginnings to building an HoF-worthy legacy is worth the attention it is getting. FWRD couldn’t stay behind in that regard. They reflected on who ‘The Flash’ is now, hours before he would be one of the names in the Hall of Fame.

NBA pros put in the effort to become a future HoFer without getting greedy for that honor. Dwyane Wade has reflected that since he was officially announced as part of the 2023 Hall of Fame class. Just before the ceremony, Wade looked back on his origins that led up to this point.

Dwyane Wade’s life has changed since HoF news

Celebrity stylist Jason Bolden is dressing up Dwyane Wade for the biggest event of the NBA star’s career – his induction into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame. FWRD caught up with the duo at Wade’s luxurious home ahead of the ceremony. Bolden got the Heat champion to open up about his career and style evolution.

One of the most poignant moments in the video is when Wade said, “So as I got the call from the Hall of Fame it changed… even though I felt I put a career together that was Hall of Fame-worthy, but the moment I got that call it’s just changed the way that I’ve been thinking.”

As he’s been reiterating in other places, the news is still sinking in for Wade. After a spectacular career with the Heat, during which he won three titles, one Finals MVP, and was an All-Star 13 times – after that he was a shoo-in for the honor.

Nonetheless, it has not only been life-changing news for the retired pro, but also for his family. He would tell Bolden about the conversation his parents had in the lead-up to the ceremony. “They’re like, ‘Joe can you believe this? Like, this is little Dwayne, this is our son – like, wow…'”

Dwyane grew up in Chicago and had a difficult childhood. His mother struggled with several hardships when Wade went to live with his father. Basketball kept Wade from falling prey to vices and led him to the league in 2003.

Wade’s legacy remains unmatched

‘The Flash’ would become a bonafide hero for Miami. With the arrival of Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James, D-Wade was able to build a legacy worthy of his newest honor. Even Shaq got sentimental about his former teammate‘s accomplishments.

For his parents who’ve seen his rough childhood firsthand, they never imagined this honor after Wade’s NBA career. “We from Chicago, Illinois, we from the inner city, we grew up with nothing, and this moment that we’re going in less than a week where we’re about to go is, is everything,” Wade said about his parents’ and his own feelings.

Just days before the HoF ceremony, Wade’s still reeling. “I think for me it’s definitely out of body… when you’re having moments like this, you’re present but you’re not.” [sic]

He’s not getting used to it anytime soon. But he’s going to enjoy and savor the day with his loved ones. At the end of the day, he’s going to reflect, “At 17 years old you decided to give your all to something, and at 41 years old you one of the best to do it.”
