The first time the NBA veteran and Prince met was when Prince wanted to rent one of Boozer?s houses in Bel Air, Los Angeles. However, the NBA veteran initially did not know that it was the famous American singer/musician who wanted to rent it.
At first, Boozer?s realtor called him and asked him if he was okay with renting out one of his houses (which he was not actively using). The NBA veteran rejected the idea at first. However, after hearing from his realtor that the tenant was willing to pay $95,000 per month, he quickly changed his mind.
When Prince visited the Bel Air house and met Carlos Boozer Jr. for the first time, the retired NBA veteran mentioned in the interview that he was surprised to see the music legend. However, they instantly hit it off. They talked about basketball since Prince was an avid NBA fan and loyal Minnesota Timberwolves supporter.
However, things got a little tricky after the pop icon (who was in his prime then) changed the look of the house he had rented from Carlos Boozer Jr. within a few months.
When Carlos Boozer Jr. almost sued Prince
When the NBA veteran got hurt during a season, he had to fly back to Atlanta. He then called Prince and said, ” Hey P! I need to come by the house, let me know if you need anything.” but he didn’t hear back from Prince for weeks.
The NBA veteran visited the Bel Air house. However, he was in for a rude awakening. Carlos Boozer Jr. mentions, ?I was heated. The house was all black and purple. He made one of the rooms into a hair salon and the gym room into a party room.? Carlos Boozer Jr. recalls calling Prince 5-10 times but Prince did not reply because he was in Japan completing his world tour.

Since this was strictly business, the NBA star talked to his lawyer and sent a few papers to Prince’s representatives. The NBA star got a call from Prince the next day, who was able to easily convince Boozer that everything was under control. The retired NBA veteran laughs as he mentions what he told his lawyer, “Nobody wants to sue Prince but this was business.” And true to his word, Prince handed over the house looking exactly as it had before he had rented it, displaying both his means and motivation to deliver on his promise.
