Kevin Garnett’s former teammate, Scott Pollard, has made it after a critical heart transplant surgery. The 2008 NBA champion was diagnosed with a serious illness and required an immediate heart transplant. After a motivating recovery period, the 49-year-old took a happy walk out of the hospital. Due to his peculiar hairstyles during his time in the NBA, Pollard formed a special bond with the NBA community. And that was on full display as he received some heartwarming messages on social media. But it wasn’t an easy ride.
As per reports, the condition was due to a virus back in 2021. Soon, Pollard was admitted to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. While his size helped him on the basketball court, there was a downside to his towering height and physique. It was hard to find a donor big enough to match his body.
Finally, prayers were listened to as he underwent the heart transplant surgery on February 16. Following a two-week recovery period, the player walked out of his room, unaided down a hospital corridor, gaining support and applause from the fans. Pollard’s wife continuously shared snaps and snippets of Scott’s recovery journey with the fans on her social media.
