“Best Pump Fake in Golf”: Resurfaced Clip of Tiger Woods Imitating Charles Barkley’s Swing Has Fans in Splits

When it comes to basketball, Charles Barkley was a true star. But he’s not the ‘Round Mound of the Golf Course’. The NBA legend is part of a star-studded club of NBA greats who love golf. He’s not the best at it, though. Barkley counts the likes of Phil Mickelson among his friends from the golf world. Before their falling out, he was friends with the legend Tiger Woods as well. Now a video has resurfaced from the days these two would hit the greens together. It has fans doubling over at the hilarity.

Over the years, fans have had a good chuckle at Barkley’s love but lack of talent for swinging a club. Even having PGA stars for friends didn’t seem to improve his swing.

Tiger Woods ribbed Charles Barkley on the course

Since the ’90s, a select group of NBA pros who enjoy basketball would lurk around Tiger Woods. Among them was Charles Barkley. Now, despite loving another sport that’s not basketball, Sir Charles is no Tiger Woods. That doesn’t deter him from retiring his drives, though.

A video has since surfaced on Instagram that shows this funny friendship that transcended sports. It’s a rare sight to have Barkley and Woods in the same space now. So fans loved it. There’s also a special cameo from Frank, Tiger’s famous tiger head cover too.

In this old clip, Barkley shows the worst possible form for a golfer when he makes a shot. All while PGA champion, Tiger Woods, is standing a few feet away. Woods is initially trying to hide his laughter and then gestures at the onlookers to not say anything. He then pulls out one of his drives and imitates Barkley’s absurd swing.

Interestingly, Woods has been taunting Barkley’s poor golf game for a long time. A 2007 video that resurfaced in 2022 showed one such instance where Woods wasn’t even being subtle, as in the above incident. During an old appearance on The Late Night Show with Conan O’Brien, the pro-golfer quipped that Barkley’s swing “might hurt their eyes.” The reactions to the video made the hilarity even better.

Fans don’t show any mercy to the Chuckster

Fans had a lot of creative commentary between the emojis. “And half the guys on the range are doing this because Tiger did it.”

One fan suggested it was Barkley letting his basketball instincts take over. He wrote, “Best pump fake in golf.” Another fan pointed out how well Woods reenacted the Chuckster’s swing, writing, “Identical.” However, not everyone was harsh. One fan commented, “Still better contact than 99% of people I know.” 

Another fan wrote, “Am I the only one who saw frank (the tiger driver head cover ) over move multiple times?” 

Sadly, we don’t get to see this cat-and-mouse friendship anymore. After Woods’ personal drama in 2009, the golfer ceased contact with Barkley and many of his famous friends. Barkley would express his bitterness about it in 2017. He’s apparently still upset that Woods would pull the plug on their friendship without an explanation.

Despite being shut out by his old golf buddy, Barkley continues to defend Woods on all issues. Now we can only look back at these funny moments to be reminded these two greats in their respective sports intersected.
