Despite criticism, greatness finds a way to thrive. And for the cream of the crop, the doubters and naysayers are out in abundance. However, a Washington Wizards star, who has typically been critical of Michael Jordan, had to acknowledge his impeccable memory in a rare display of credit. As his successor on the team, Gilbert Arenas has always had a unique perspective of Michael and his final years in the sport.

Everyone’s favorite new candidate for GOAT, Paul George had Gilbert on his Podcast P. Eventually, the discussion came to MJ, and Gil’s response was a shocker. “That man’s a machine, man. There’s items that his team searches for on the internet.”

Then, Arenas went into story mode as only he can. “Let’s say you got some PE’s [Player Exclusive], right? They’re just made for you. So, if he ever see ’em on the net being sold, he knows every item, like them shorts.” Then, he would reveal a prime example of that same impeccable eye.

So, I had my son, when he was in Jordan camp, go up there and get it signed. And he was like, ‘Hey, where’d you get this?'” When he found out it was the kid’s dad, his response was immediate. “Who’s your dad?” Once he learned about Gilbert, “I knew it. Where’s the rest of this s**t?”

Because the items that the 3x All-Star’s son was asking him to sign were extremely familiar to the Chicago Bulls legend.

How Gilbert Arenas carried a piece of Michael Jordan with him

In essence, PG’s guest was next in line for the Wizard, so he inherited quite a few things from him, literally. “When he left, he left all his game and practice stuff. So, when he seen that, he knew that was his stuff. So, he was like, ‘Gimme the rest of this s**t.”

However, His Airness did not ask for them back out of pettiness. Instead, the story had a happy conclusion. “He signed all his old stuff, all his practice stuff. So, I had his undergame practice shorts, had his undergame game shorts, had his orthotics. I wore his orthotics during my career.”

Sometimes, he even took drills from him in his gear as well. For a man as critical of MJ as he is, he sure did take a lot from him.
