Former Washington Wizards legend Gilbert Arenas was not happy hearing these comments from Dennis Schröder, “I think this is the best team I have ever been on, whether it is the NBA or the Nationals“. To this, Arenas said, “Get the f*** out of here“. As someone who has played with LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the Los Angeles Lakers, these comments from Schröder truly baffling.
On Gilbert Arenas’s YouTube channel, No Chill Gill, Arenas calls Schröder ‘delusional’ for even uttering these comments. He continues by saying that something is not right with him. He took a dig at him by saying that he always knew Schröder was not right in the head when he turned down $84 million from the Los Angeles Lakers.
Arenas carried on with his rampage on Schröder by saying that if a team has Schröder as the best player on their team, then the team is not that good. He then said Schröder feels like it’s the best team because he is the only good player on that team.
Schröder was also a part of the 2020 Oklahoma City Thunder team that surprised everyone and won 44 games (shortened season because of COVID) and was 5th in the west that season. He also played with OKC the previous year, when they had Paul George, who was in the top three in the MVP race, and Russell Westbrook.

Schröder lost out on millions from the Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA championship in 2020. Following the win, Rajon Rondo left the team to join the Atlanta Hawks. To fill the hole he left, the Lakers brought Dennis Schröder to the team. He was playing well during the season. He was coming off the bench and was giving good production. It was reported at the time that this made the Lakers offer him $84 million for 4 years. But Dennis Schröder allegedly turned down this offer in order to sign a bigger deal.

During the playoffs, Schröder struggled heavily, and the Lakers didn’t bring him back after that. In the off-season, he had to sign with the Boston Celtics for $6 million. This is now known as one of the biggest missed opportunities in NBA history. He signed with the Lakers again the following year for $2.6 million. Dennis Schröder has since denied the claims that he was ever given a contract for $84 million.
