The recent brutal mass killing in Georgia sent major shockwaves across the country. It saddened the world, and many politicians and celebrities mourned the death of the victims and voiced their concerns. Unfortunately, this was the 31st mass killing in the country this year. NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has multiple times opened up about gun violence, both on TV and on social media. He recently shared an important update about the incident on his Instagram handle.

Four people were reportedly killed in the inhumane incident that unfolded in Hampton. Initially, the victims were not identified, and the motive was unknown.

The suspect is finally dead

At the time, the suspect was believed to be a 5’10” male in his mid-50s. He was reportedly seen wearing a dark red shirt.

According to a report from NBC News, the suspect was shot dead by authorities after hours of tracking. Henry County Sheriff Reginald B. Scandrett talked about it at a news conference Sunday afternoon. Scandrett said, “The monster is dead. The entire state of Georgia can breathe a little easier tonight.”

Notably, the Los Angeles Lakers legend currently lives in Atlanta. So understandably, he could be deeply disturbed by the fatal incident.

Furthermore, the accused man was Andre Longmore a 40-year-old resident of the Dogwood Lakes Drive community. Even though the suspect was gunned down by the police, the reason behind the killings of his neighbors is still unknown.

Shaquille O’Neal never shies away from expressing his care for society and its people.

O’Neal was heartbroken about the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas last year. The tragic incident happened during the playoffs and the NBA world was devastated. The NBA on TNT crew shared their honest thoughts on TV. Notably, Shaq and Kenny Smith grew up in San Antonio which was close to Uvalde.

O’Neal revealed that he had visited Uvalde multiple times while playing high school basketball. He was crushed about all the young lives that were lost.

During the show, NBA legend Charles Barkley shared his thoughts about the incident. The Philadelphia 76ers legend could not fathom what could be the reason behind carrying out such violent acts.

Unfortunately, one year on, these unthinkable acts of violence continue to steal lives.
