Over the years, the NBA has seen numerous fashions take the spotlight. And if there’s one thing that the modern fashion-conscious NBA fan doesn’t want to see, it’s tight shorts. Since the turn of the century, basketball shorts have gotten baggier by the year. However, the Milwaukee Bucks probably took it too far with one of their former players. While this likely could have been a mistake, Terrance Ford Jr.’s odd baggy shorts quickly became a laughing stock in 2003.

Looking back at his rookie transitional program photoshoot, TJ Ford revealed plans for his hilarious picture in a recent interview with Fansided. While the interviewer felt guilty about forcing the former NBA guard to recall his embarrassing moment, Ford humorously shared that he would like to put this picture in his gym.

“I think I need to hang that photo in my gym. That photo was so legendary that every time it gets around draft time in the summer, that picture is going to resurface. And it’s the new generation of kids that’s coming into the league for the first time seeing it, witnessing it, and also having some type of context of what it’s about,” Terrance Ford Jr. humbly said.

As expected, the legend has fond memories of how things went with the photoshoot and his odd uniform. But you must trust Ford that it wasn’t his plan to wear the oversized bottoms after going 8th overall in 2003 NBA Draft.

New fashion trends keep exploding in the NBA scene. Naturally then Terrance Ford Jr’s giant shorts and jersey seem like a failed attempt to usher in a new fashion style. However, that’s not what happened.

In an interview, the retired NBA player recalled that he got the uniform when he reached the studio. Not just the shorts but the jersey was also quite big. The uniform would likely have been more suitable for a 7-foot center. However, Ford was just 6-foot. The player once hilariously detailed how he should get mad at the Bucks for sending the wrong size uniform.

“Your team is supposed to ship all your uniforms and things that fit your sizes. But when I get there ready to do my photo segment for all the NBA photos, those were the shorts they gave me! They told me, ‘This is all we have. So, you have to take these photos in these shorts,” revealed Ford.

The reason why he never argued back during that time was that he didn’t want to look like a high-maintenance player. What are your thoughts on TJ Ford’s unintentional baggy shorts fashion? Let us know in the comments section below.
