Recently, one of Chamberlain’s oldest jerseys soared past its estimated value at an auction. It was ultimately sold at $4.9 million, making it the third most expensive game jersey ever sold. What’s more exciting is this memorabilia has achieved much more than any of the athlete’s other pieces. The former NBA player wore this jersey during the 1972 finals. Here is a little more about the history of the jersey.

In 1972, the Los Angeles Lakers team was led by Chamberlain, along with star players such as Jerry West and Gail Goodrich. He wore the jersey, particularly in Game 2 and Game 5 when the Lakers defeated the New York Knicks to win their sixth championship title. This relic is also a significant part of the Lakers championship and history.
