The drama surrounding the jacket makes it a significant commodity in the history of sports. The Dream Team showcased a new level of basketball to the whole world, and this further popularized the game.
Sotheby?s estimated the jacket to go for 1 to 3 million USD. It eventually ended up being sold for 1.5 million USD. The history behind the jacket made Sotheby?s overestimate the range, but still, this does not take away the significance of the memorabilia in sporting history.

What did Jordan do to the Olympic Jacket?
All memebrs of Team USA were given the jacket. The executive director of the United States Olympic Committee, Harvey Schiller, did not allow the players to accept the medals unless they put on the jacket. But Michael was not happy to wear the jacket.
The jacket had the Reebok logo on it, and Michael’s loyalty to Nike made him not want to wear it. But when the director insisted, Michael covered his shoulder (where the Reebok logo was) with the flag of the United States. After the ceremony, he threw the jacket at Brian McIntyre, who worked at player relations at the time. Jordan had previously gotten the Gold medal in 1984 olympics.

When he gave it to Jordan, he signed it and gave it back to McIntyre. On it, it was written, To Brian, Thanks for Everything, Michael Jordan.?McIntyre kept the jacket for 29 years and decided to sell it earlier this year.
