The Los Angeles Lakers have had a subpar start to the new season. However, LeBron James has been on a dream run lately. He is currently the oldest active player in the league with many records under his belt. This has prompted a comparison between James and Tom Brady regarding the age to retire.

Recently, an NBA veteran talked about the two great athletes in their respective fields. As per this 4x NBA champion, LeBron still has a lot to offer and should look to take his career the Brady route.

Brady is arguably the greatest quarterback to have ever played in the NFL. Apart from a legendary career, he is praised for his athletic ability and a mentality that’s not known to many. This is what allowed him to play in the league for 23 seasons. Brady retired earlier this year at the age of 45. Right now, LeBron is 38 years old and is the oldest player in the league. Notably, his game has not been affected much because of his age and he is still putting out performances. LeBron’s retirement has been the topic of conversation between basketball fans for a long time.

However, John Salley believes that the Lakers superstar is still a long way from retirement. Salley said, “he looks better [at 38] than he did at 28”. As per the NBA veteran, LeBron can still perform at the highest level, and considering the fact that he just broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record last season, he still has a lot to offer. The 59-year-old said that LeBron should aim for Brady’s record of playing at the age of 45. The NBA veteran believes that the 38-year-old has it in him to continue for another 5-7 years in the league.

Whether LeBron will follow in Brady’s footsteps or not, we’ll know in time. However, if he does, that will allow him to live one of his dreams.
