The Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green‘s reinstatement to the NBA was officially announced on last Saturday, January 6. This wasn’t an easy time for the champ and it has taken a toll on him. Following the happy news, he decided to share the raw and emotional journey he endured during this challenging period on his podcast. That is when he made the shocking revelation. He revealed that he wanted to retire soon after he was indefinitely suspended. Fortunately, it was the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver who ultimately convinced him to reconsider this decision.

Agreeing with Silver, ex-Warriors star DeMarcus Cousins shared that anybody who “genuinely cared” about Green’s well-being would ask him to not go through with that decision. In his podcast, ‘All the Smoke,’ he said, I agree with Adam when it when he said he’s making a, you know, dramatic decision. The reason I say this is because anybody who genuinely cares for Draymond and has genuine love for him would have told him the same thing Draymond you’re wilding you’re tripping.” He added, “I can understand why he got to that point mentally.”

Just like Cousins mentioned, fans had somewhat similar feelings towards the whole situation. After facing a storm of consequences following an incident of violence on December 13, the NBA quickly announced an indefinite ban for Green. There have been many such incidents previously and the latest one involved the 4x NBA All-Star mistakenly striking center Jusuf Nurkic in a game against the Phoenix Suns.

Speaking of the reinstatement, Green got emotional as he detailed, “I told him, ‘Adam this is too much for me’.” He confessed, “It’s all becoming too much for me, and I’m going to retire.” And Adam said, ‘You’re making a very rash decision and I won’t let you do that.'”
