The festive months tend to bring out the best in people. Whether it be family feuds put aside or friends reuniting, there is an overall positive vibe. The NBA’s Christmas Day games, though, are typically the opposite. Even during the happiest time of the year, the focus is on intense rivalries between teams and players. However, this year saw a good old-fashioned Christmas story come to life in the stands. A long-standing rivalry gave way to a beautiful union. Watching 50 Cent courtside for the New York Knicks was a joy to witness.
But, for Jamal Crawford, it was the man beside 50 Cent that made him a true fanboy. Rather than focusing on either of the individual legends, the union of Fat Joe and 50 Cent had a Knicks legend himself turning moon-eyed.
Immediately, he took to his Instagram story to point out the rarity of the occurrence. Further, he would also point to the growth both rappers have shown to come so far from their beefing 2000s days. “15 years ago, you couldn’t have ever guessed this.”

“Elevation, growth. Dope to see @fatjoe @50cent”, followed by a salute emoji. While the Crawsover’s comments might seem like hyperbole, the truth is far closer to home. During the late 2000s and early 2010s, the two icons were as bitter as any rivalry in the entertainment world.

But their appearance was the first of 3 miracles on a historic night at The Garden.
New York Knicks triumph as Garden turns miraculous
A rivalry that began in 2005 was finally resolved in 2012. But, during that nearly 7-year era of vitriol, the situation was incredibly volatile. In retrospect, both parties see their faults. While one dragged the other unnecessarily, neither was ready to give an inch. Their feud even led to 50 Cent losing out on a $20 million paycheck as he would reveal in his book.
But, the passing of Christ Lighty led the two to find common ground and make amends. With the potential for violence escalating, it was a true sigh of relief for the multimedia industry as a whole. Their appearance at the show, however, wasn’t the only miracle on the night.
The other came as a result of Carmelo Anthony and his generosity. The Knicks would ensure that one family in grave need got a $30,000 cheque courtesy of the NY icon for medical bills and extra festive spending. By far the biggest shocker, however, was the performance of the team.

Despite going up against a Milwaukee Bucks team featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, NYC wasn’t willing to give an inch. Behind Mr. not-tall-enough Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett, and Immanuel Quickley, the team was able to overcome twin 20-point efforts from Milwaukee’s superstars.
With the Christmas miracles coming in bundles, a New York legend like Crawford clearly had a lot to celebrate about.
