For some people, the NBA is a big dream, while for some it is a mission, but for Dwyane Wade, it was a necessity. Sacrifices are common in every star’s story, but the motivation is always different. Despite a struggling past, the Miami Heat icon found the motivation to achieve big things and it was only because of his family. In a recent interview, Wade sat down to share his life journey and the role his family played in shaping his career.

The 3x NBA champion shared his interview in his Instagram story, “You know just the reason that I started on this journey, I really wanted to change my family’s life. I wanted to change the course of you know how I grew up and how I was living.” Every story hits a speed bump. When you do not achieve what you set out to accomplish, quitting is the first thing that comes to your mind. It was the same for Wade. However, there were bigger things Wade had to worry about.

He continued, “Every time I wanted to quit, I was thinking about my mom. Kept thinking about my dad. Kept thinking about my grandma. Like anything that motivated.” That was enough for Wade to step foot on the court once again. Well, that shows us why he was one of the best in the league during his era.

Notably, the motivation can change after a point. That happened to Wade as well. When he was finding more reasons to play the game, he had the duty of raising 5 beautiful children too. To stay for a long time in the NBA and come back from career-ending injuries, playoff exits, etc. it takes a lot. Many have not done that, but Wade could do it only because of his family.

Parenthood was the next big step in the journey for Dwyane Wade after basketball

Wade has not taken the blessing of being a father for granted. On several occasions, he has shown how much his kids mean to him. In fact, he even moved from Florida to California, to find the right place for his daughter Zaya. Speaking of parenthood, the Heat icon revealed, “When you don’t know nothing, just love…You’ve got to feel love. You’ve got to feel support. And then we can work everything else out.”
