Stephen A. Smith has always been loyal to Michael Jordan. No matter what LeBron James has accomplished in his career, Smith has stood by Jordan and refuses to count anyone else as the greatest basketball player ever. While we all know that the Jordan and LeBron argument will never end, Smith recently got someone to agree that LeBron was the second-best in the world without even trying.
As there was a raging debate about who was the best-dressed ESPN employee at the In-Season Tournament finals, Richard Jefferson elevated himself to the top by comparing Stephen A. Smith to LeBron James.

As the lights were shining brightly in Las Vegas, the NBA analysts did not take a step back and brought their flair to the table. Although it was a basketball game, Richard Jefferson came in as if it were a black-tie event and wore a tuxedo. But it was Stephen A. Smith who turned back time and came in with a full-on purple suit, almost replicating the Joker from Batman.
As the two were debating on who had the better fit for the night, Richard Jefferson took it upon himself to judge himself as the winner. Although Jefferson paid his respect to Stephen A. Smith and his outfit, he placed himself as the best dressed at the event.
Jefferson said, “This right here is the MJ. This (while pointing towards Smith’s outfit) is the LeBron. It’s close. I’m saying you are the second best on the planet.“

While Smith has always taken it upon himself to defend Michael Jordan’s legacy, it was even more shocking for him to hear this from LeBron James’s former teammate. Jefferson crowned himself the winner while saying that LeBron is near perfect but right behind Jordan.

As the In-Season Tournament came to an end, the Los Angeles Lakers were the ones to lift the trophy. Along with this, LeBron James won the MVP award for the IST as well. During his acceptance speech, LeBron mentioned he is grateful to be part of the IST and that he is happy that he and the Lakers are the first ones to win this trophy.
With the IST going to be an annual thing from now on, it is now another point in LeBron James’ resume to use in the GOAT debate against Michael Jordan. When all is said and done, maybe Smith will change his answer after he looks at LeBron’s career in its entirety and not just the finals losses.
