Entering Michael Jordan-Led ?Enemy Turf?, Pistons Legend Confesses to ?Strange? Turn of Events Despite Infamous Rivalry

One of the biggest headlines of 1995 was the return of Michael Jordan to basketball. Jordan retired during his peak but made his way back to the Chicago Bulls after a year and a half long break. Another person who was not as skilled but was known to have just as much fan attraction as His Ariness was Dennis Rodman. It’s not farfetched to say that Dennis Rodman getting traded to the Bulls in 1995 was of similar magnitude to Jordan returning.

During his time with the Detroit Pistons, Rodman faced off against the Bulls countless times in the playoffs. MJ never had a pleasant experience against the Pistons. The rivalry between the two could have made things awkward when Rodman joined the Bulls, but that was not the case.

Dennis Rodman and Michael Jordan’s?union

Chuck Daly was Dennis Rodman’s head coach during his days with the Detroit Pistons. In an interview between Dennis Rodman and Chuck Daly before his debut with the Bulls, Rodman revealed more insights into his relationship with Michael Jordan. Rodman said that when he was traded to the team, he felt really strange.

The Worm revealed that he never thought he would be part of the Bulls. He spent two years with the San Antonio Spurs before making his way to the Bulls, and he was grateful for the opportunity.

Dennis Rodman said, “For the last couple of years, I have got bored of a lot of things, and this game. And for this year, I kinda have a whole turnaround about the game and have fun again.”

He did not want any extra attention. He just wanted to play and fulfill his role, help the team, and be an example to the people that if you work hard enough, you don’t need otherworldly talent to succeed.

Rodman also revealed that they all had a good relationship with each other. Even though during practice, Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman would be on three sides of the court, during a real game, they worked together and got the job done.

But it would still be a bit strange to play with someone that you were having animosity towards just a few years ago.

Michael Jordan hated the Pistons

Dennis Rodman had already won two championships by the time he came to the Chicago Bulls. Rodman was a part of the Bad Boys Pistons, who were constantly a challenge for Michael Jordan in the Eastern Conference.

MJ was not able to overcome the Pistons for years, and there were many reasons behind it. Their rough and physical playstyle constantly targeted Jordan. They made it difficult for His Airness to play, and there were no games that ended without Jordan having bruises on his body.

Jordan himself revealed years later that he hated going up against the Pistons as they played dirty. But he finally got the job done in 1991 and went on to win his first championship.
