Sir Charles is not just a legend in the NBA, but also at Auburn University. He was the first ever to lead the Auburn Tigers to the NCAA tournament. Honoring his contribution, the University retired his jersey way back in 2001. 22 years have passed, but Barkley has always shown his gratitude to the institution.
Yet this time, there is a small twist. Charles Barkley shared a video with some heart-touching words, “Dear Auburn Family, it’s hard to put into words what Auburn means to me. This place is so much more than my alma mater. It’s family. In 1981, I was trying to decide where to go to college and the third place I visited was Auburn University, and I never looked back. Best decision I ever made in my life.”
The proud alum added, “You know, I’ve been so lucky and blessed that Auburn decided to give me a statue and I’ll always be thankful and humbled and part of the Auburn family.” Well, to honor this appreciation, Charles Barkley decided to bring his Redmont Vodka to his alma mater.
With pride, he shared, “So that’s why I’m so excited to share with you guys, the special edition of Redmont Vodka bottle…Thank you from the bottom of my heart and until the day I die, War Eagle.”
