The Milwaukee Bucks do not want to waste any time. In just 8 hours, the Bucks have gotten rid of head coach Adrian Griffin and are already in talks to add a new champion coach to the team. With Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo ready to give it their all, the organization has apparently hired Doc Rivers, just a few hours after firing Griffin. Though Griffin’s departure was sad, the fans have something to be happy about now. Or so they thought. Though, the signing isn’t confirmed yet, Magic Johnson responded to the reports with a pleasant message for coach Doc.

Johnson shared on his Twitter, “I want to congratulate my friend, and one of the best to ever coach in the NBA, Doc Rivers for accepting the Milwaukee Bucks head coaching job! “ He also explained the role that Rivers is best at, “Doc is a World Champion so he will demand that the Bucks play hard, play good defense, and play well together.”

Rivers was previously the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, who lost in the conference semi-finals last year. After departing from the team, Rivers joined the broadcasting world. For the last month, the 2008 NBA champion has been a part of ESPN. While a return to coaching makes sense for the veteran, TNT might have jumped the gun with the news.

But amidst all this, reports have emerged that there is no agreement in place between the Bucks and any potential coaching replacement! Bill Reiter tweeted that league sources say there is no agreement in place and the earlier reports of Rivers accepting the job are ‘not true’.

As Turner News and Co. scramble to update the fans, Magic Johnson also shared a few words about the Bucks firing Griffin.

Magic Johnson drops the blame on Milwaukee Bucks for firing Adrian Griffin

While Johnson is happy that his friend may have got a job after 8 months, he also feels very sad for Griffin. In fact, he openly blamed the Bucks for this sudden move. The 5-time champion shared on Twitter, “I think the Bucks firing former Head Coach Adrian Griffin was a big mistake.”

He went on to share that getting rid of Celtics star Jrue Holiday was the problem for this one-day massacre. Magic Johnson added, “It’s not his[Griffin] fault the Bucks traded their best on-ball defender, Jrue Holiday. They are not a good defensive team and are all-around too slow.”

The defense has been a nightmare for the Bucks this season. The lack of defense got them eliminated in the first round of playoffs last year. Later, they got rid of Holiday and added Damian Lillard, who is not someone to be relied on for defense. Johnson did not fail to point that out.

Doc Rivers last won the championship in 2008 with the Celtics. Magic believes he can win another one with the Bucks. Do you think Johnson’s prediction will come true? Do you think Rivers will even accept the job? Share your take in the comments below.
